What makes a DIN3017 clamp different

The DIN3017 standard comes from Germany and defines a specific style of hose clamp that uses a rolled-edge band, an extruded tooth profile and a defined tightening torque. The standard ensures that the clamp provides an even, controlled compression around the full circumference of the hose. Instead of a perforated band that can bite into rubber or silicone, the extruded teeth of a DIN3017 clamp are raised from the band itself, so the inner surface remains smooth against the hose. This design prevents the flexible hose from being pinched or cut during installation and when the final torque is applied. The result is a stable, secure connection that keeps the hose structure intact and delivers a more consistent seal under pressure changes, vibration and temperature swings.

The band thickness is 0.65 mm, and the mounting torque is rated at ≥8 Nm, which satisfies the requirements of most industrial, automotive and manufacturing environments. Material configurations that fit real-world conditions

Not every hose clamp faces the same environment. A clamp used indoors on a freshwater line has very different demands from one exposed to salt spray or chemical cleaning agents. W1 — Band, housing and screw are all made from galvanized iron. This is an economical choice for general-purpose applications in dry or mildly humid conditions.

W2 — Band and housing are produced from 200 or 300 series stainless steel, while the screw remains galvanized iron. This configuration improves corrosion resistance on the parts that touch the hose and the surroundings, at a moderate cost.

W4 — All three components (band, housing, screw) are made from 200 or 300 series stainless steel. This is a fully stainless assembly widely used in food processing, heating and cooling systems, and outdoor machinery.

W5 — Entire clamp is 316 stainless steel. This grade adds molybdenum for superior resistance to chlorides and aggressive chemicals, making it suitable for marine, offshore and chemical plant applications.

For the stainless steel ranges, a polishing process is applied to the surfaces, which improves cleanability and gives the clamps a consistent, professional finish.

Holding strength and installation behaviour

One of the key practical benefits of the  is its fixing effect once correctly torqued. The combination of the extruded tooth pattern and the rolled-edge band creates a mechanical lock that resists hose retraction and prevents the clamp from loosening under cyclic loads.
