Heavy Duty Compensating Constant Pressure Hose Clamps For Pipe

Short Description:

This clamp uses a disc spring stack (SS301) to maintain steady band tension as hose dimensions change with temperature or pressure. The housing and band are SS304, the screw is SS410 for higher torque resistance. Four-rivet construction tested to >25 N·m destructive torque. Available in 16 sizes from 32–252mm, 15.8mm band width, 10 pcs per bag, 100 per carton. Used in truck cooling, hydraulic lines, pipe joints, and industrial fluid systems.

Butterfly Hose Clip Introduction

We manufacture this clamp for systems where temperature changes and vibration make ordinary clamps loosen up. The key is a disc spring stack made of SS301. When you tighten the screw, the spring stack compresses. If the hose expands or shrinks, or if the rubber takes a set over time, the spring stack pushes back to keep the band tension nearly constant. That means you don’t have to re-tighten as often, and the seal stays reliable longer.

Constant Tension Hose Clamps Materials And Build Details

Band, housing, and end cover: SS304 stainless steel – good corrosion resistance, standard for most industrial environments.

Screw: SS410 stainless steel. This is a martensitic grade, harder than SS304. It resists thread galling better, especially when you have to torque it repeatedly.

Disc spring: SS301, which has higher yield strength than SS304. In our compression test at 8 N·m torque, the spring stack returned to more than 99% of its original height after compression – so the compensation effect holds up.

Radiator Hose Clamps Structural Strength

The housing is fixed to the band with four rivets. We tested the destructive torque – the point where the housing starts to twist – and it consistently exceeds 25 N·m. That’s well above what most standard clamps offer, so it can handle heavy vibration without the band slipping.

Steel Belt Clamp Liner And Sealing

There’s a liner inside the band. It does two things: it protects the hose surface from abrasion, and it spreads the clamping force more evenly around the circumference. That helps avoid localized pinching and gives a more uniform seal.

Radiator Hose Clamps Typical Uses

Our customers use these clamps in:

Engine cooling and turbo lines on heavy trucks

Hydraulic oil return lines in construction equipment

Pipe joints in water treatment plants

Fuel and air lines on marine engines

General fluid transfer where pressure fluctuates

Why Choose This Over A Standard Worm-Drive Clamp?

A normal clamp gives a fixed circumference – if the hose softens or shrinks, the tension drops. This one adjusts internally through the spring stack. The initial installation is the same – you just torque the screw to your specified value. From then on, the clamp maintains the force by itself, within the working range of the spring.

We’ve seen users cut maintenance intervals in half simply by switching to this type. It’s not a fancy gadget; it’s a mechanical fix for a physical problem – thermal movement and material creep.

FAQ

Q1: What does “constant pressure” mean in this clamp?

It means the clamp does not rely solely on a fixed circumference. A pre-loaded disc spring inside the housing compensates for thermal expansion, contraction, or hose compression set. The spring pushes back to keep the clamping force within a consistent range, reducing the need for re-tightening.

Q2: How does the disc spring perform over time?

In our compression test at 8 N·m torque, the SS301 spring stack returned more than 99% of its original deflection after release. That rebound rate holds under normal working loads, so the compensation effect stays effective for a long service life.

Q3: Why is the screw made of SS410 instead of SS304?

SS410 is a martensitic stainless steel – it has higher hardness and better wear resistance than austenitic SS304. This reduces thread galling when you torque the clamp repeatedly or apply high installation torque, especially in field maintenance conditions.

Q4: What sizes and packaging are offered?

We stock 16 size ranges from 32–54 mm up to 230–252 mm, all with a 15.8 mm band width. Standard packaging: 10 pieces per plastic bag, 100 pieces per export carton. All bands, housings, and end covers are SS304.

Q5: Which industries use this clamp most often?

Common applications include heavy truck cooling and turbo lines, hydraulic systems in construction equipment, water treatment pipe joints, marine fuel/air lines, and general fluid transfer where pressure or temperature fluctuates. It is also used in some military and engine exhaust system seals.
